First Amendment to the United States Constitution (Amendment I):

REPROVING, REBUKING AND EXPOSING DANGERS FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST AND SOULS

April 8, 2014

“To employ soft words and honeyed phrases in discussing questions of everlasting importance; to deal with errors that strike at the foundations of all human hope as if they were harmless and venial mistakes; to bless where God disapproves, and to make apologies where He calls us to stand up like men and assert, though it may be the aptest method of securing popular applause in a sophistical age, is cruelty to man and treachery to Heaven. Those who on such subjects attach more importance to the rules of courtesy than they do to the measures of truth do not defend the citadel, but betray it into the hands of its enemies. Love for Christ, and for the souls for whom He died, will be the exact measure of our zeal in exposing the dangers by which men’s souls are ensnared”

– George Sayles

Proverbs 27:5-6 Open rebuke is better than secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

Psalms 141:5 Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.

Proverbs 28:23 He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.

Psalms 12:2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

Proverbs 26:28 A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.

Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

Titus 1:13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

Luke 17:3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.

Galatians 2:11-14 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision. And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation. But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

Jude 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

ARE YOU HEARTSICK AND GRIEVED AT THE WORLDLINESS OF THE CHURCHES?

April 6, 2014

“The true man of God is heartsick, grieved at the worldliness of the Church…grieved at the toleration of sin in the Church, grieved at the prayerlessness in the Church. He is disturbed that the corporate prayer of the Church no longer pulls down the strongholds of the devil.”

– Leonard Ravenhill

How many “church programs” today do we see that are designed to cater to the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.

Instead of preaching the gospel with conviction in the highways and hedges, and church leaders perfecting the saints when they gather, we see “churches” trying to reach the world with worldliness. Instead of the church going into all the world and preaching the gospel, some churches are setting up worldly entertainment centers for people to come to. Preaching the word boldly against sin and equipping the saints is out of style and out of step with much of today’s church. Creating an enticing environment, offering what itchy ears want is in style. While the preaching of the old rugged cross of Jesus Christ is removed for a shiny one to be sold, bought, and worn around necks.

Sadly today we can see those who are ashamed of the gospel are often offering another gospel that avoids the offense of the cross, avoids hell fire preaching, avoids the law that exposes sin, and even avoids repentance or changing it to mean the same as faith. How grievous this is, while self love and pleasure are also more important than loving God in many churches today. James Dobson’s  false self-esteem gospel is also more popular than Jesus message of denying self in many churches.

What sorrow it is to see so many buildings filled with people being taught error, fables, psychoheresy, and brought in by enticing words of deceit. Oh the deceptions filling the churches today that we cannot even tell the difference between them (of the so called church) and the world. We reckon some do have a FORM of godliness but have not the power of the Holy Spirit to live a true godly life and loving God above self, pleasure, and worldliness. It’s sad and grievous to see how many show love for the world and will not follow Jesus on the narrow road taking up the cross.

Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

WHERE IS THE LOVE OF THE FATHER TODAY?

1 John 2:15-17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

THE CHURCHES GOAL IS NOT TO TRY TO GET THE LOST TO COME TO A GATHERING OF SAINTS, IT’S THE DUTY OF THE SAINTS TO GO INTO ALL THE WORLD AND PREACH THE GOSPEL AND WHEN THEY GATHER, GET PERFECTED FOR THE WORK OF THE MINISTRY.

ARE WE CALLED TO PERFECT THE WORLD (NO!)?

ARE WE CALLED TO ENTERTAIN THE WORLDS GOATS (NO!)?

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Luke 14:23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

Ephesians 4:11-12 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

FEW WILL LOVE THE NARROW ROAD AND BE SAVED BUT SADLY MANY WILL LOVE THE BROAD ROAD THAT LEADETH TO HELL:

Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

SOMETIMES LOVE IS NOT ALWAYS GOOD, BUT LOVERS OF GOD SHOULD KNOW  WHO TO TURN AWAY FROM:

2 Timothy 3:1-5 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

ARE YOU FILLED WITH MUCH GRIEF AND SORROW?

Ecclesiastes 1:18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.

Hebrews 3:7-13 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

ARE YOU USING CARNAL WORLDLINESS OR SPIRITUAL WEAPONS THAT THE LORD HAS GIVEN US TO USE TO PULL DOWN STRONG HOLDS AND STANDING AGAINST THE WILES OF THE DEVIL? ARE YOU PREACHING BOLDLY THE GOSPEL AND NOT BEING ASHAMED OF THE CROSS OF JESUS?

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; ) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Ephesians 6:10-20 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

PREACHING TO TICKLE THE EAR OR CUT TO THE HEART

April 2, 2014

“I pray that I may be able to preach with such convicting power that my people will sweat! I do not want them to leave my services feeling good. The last thing I want to do is to give them some kind of religious tranquilizer–and let them go to hell in their relaxation. … The messages preached in our churches should make backslidden Christians sweat. And if I achieve that objective when I preach, I thank God with all my heart, no matter what people think of me. Jesus is Victor! … Lord, help me to preach with boldness–not concerned with ‘what people think of me.’ Amen”

– A. W. Tozer

Acts 5:33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.

Acts 7:54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

Acts 2:36-38 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

2 Timothy 4:2-5 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

WARNING, REBUKING, REPROVING, AND EXHORTING

March 2, 2014

“Again, men tell us that our preaching should be positive and not negative, that we can preach the truth without attacking error. But if we follow that advice we shall have to close our Bible and desert its teachings. The New Testament is a polemic book almost from beginning to end … It is when men have felt compelled to take a stand against error that they have risen to the really great heights in the celebration of the truth.”

– J. Gresham Machen

Jude 1:11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

2 Timothy 2:16-18 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Psalms 40:9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.

Colossians 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

Acts 20:26-28 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

Acts 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

Acts 20:20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,

Matthew 23:25-28 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

Matthew 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

The purpose of the law

February 22, 2014

“The law serves a most necessary purpose. They [unbelievers] will never accept grace until they tremble before a just and holy Law.”
– Charles Spurgeon

“A new and more powerful proclamation of [the] law is perhaps the most pressing need of the hour; men would have little difficulty with the gospel if they had only learned the lesson of the law.”
– Dr. J Gresham Machen

“I do not believe that any man can preach the gospel who does not preach the law.”
– Charles Spurgeon

“I can always tell a man who is near the kingdom of God; his mouth is stopped. This, then, is why God gives us the law. To show us ourselves in our true colors.”
– D.L. Moody

“Grace means nothing to a person who does not know he is sinful and that such sinfulness means he is separated from God and damned. It is therefore pointless to preach grace until the impossible demands of the law and the reality of guilt before God are preached.”
– John MacArthur

Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

God-sent preacher

February 14, 2014

It is to be “preached.” The God-sent preacher is a kerux-a herald. He has no message of his own. It is the King’s message he is to proclaim. According to the heraldic law, if the herald substituted so much as a word of his own for the king’s, he was beheaded. If this law was enforced in these days a lot of preachers would lose their heads, indeed many have lost their heads, judging by the kind of messages they are delivering.

– Evangelist L. W. Munhall

Have you seen this?

February 14, 2014

HAVE YOU SEEN THIS?

– Wholehearted devotion to:

1. Sports / Hunting / Trophies
2. Profession / Business
3. Family (kids, “boyfriend” or “girlfriend”)
4. Money
5. Hobby
6. Fun / Entertainment / Video games / Celebrities
7. Animals (pets)
8. Building elaborate chapels
9. Fantasy / Fables
10. Intellectualism
11. etc. (idols)

1 John 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

But have you seen this?

– WHOLEHEARTED DEVOTION TO JESUS
– ALL ENCOMPASSING LOVE FOR JESUS
– LIVING TO THE GLORY OF GOD
– CROSS BEARING
– GODLINESS
– SUFFERING PERSECUTION
– SELF-DENIAL
– HATING EVEN SELF
– REPROVING UNFRUITFUL WORKS
– PROVING ALL THINGS
– WARNING OF FALSE TEACHERS AND FALSE DOCTRINE
– ALL OUT ABSORPTION IN THE SALVATION OF MAN (PREACHING THE GOSPEL)

Some tell me they just “live it….” (implying they don’t need to obey the command to preach it ). Some kind of “secret Christian” I guess.

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

But let’s ask those who say they just “live it” …..

WHAT HAPPENS TO THOSE THAT LIVE GODLY?

2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

What America needs

February 14, 2014

What America needs is for every “evangelical” and “fundamentalist” and Bible-believing church in the land to preach nothing but God’s highness, holiness, and wrath for several months running, because a pampered people who have been treated with a powerful dose of self-esteem from infancy don’t understand their great sinfulness before God, and an individual who doesn’t understand his sinfulness doesn’t properly understand God’s grace. In the Epistle to Rome, Paul spent nearly three chapters preaching on God’s holiness and judgment before he mentioned justification by grace, but evangelism is usually quick and shallow today, whether it is evangelical evangelism or independent Baptist evangelism.

– David Cloud

Do you hear it like this anymore?

February 14, 2014

I reckon many a men have become weak in their calling out of false teachers and their heresy:

Paul called false teachers: “dogs” and “evil workers”. He used the “Beware” word like we use it for “BEWARE OF DOG”.

Philippians 3:2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.

Those who pervert or preach another gospel of Christ Paul said “Let them be accursed”:

Galatians 1:7-9 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Paul called them “evil men and seducers” and “deceiving” and did not say they would get better but worse and worse:

2 Timothy 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

He called false teachers “men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith”:

2 Timothy 3:8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

He called them “false apostles, deceitful workers”:

2 Corinthians 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

Here Paul holds nothing back:

Acts 13:10 And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

He warned of “grievous wolves”

Acts 20:29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

He labeled false teachings as “doctrines of devils”

1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
