“HAPPILY” TO HELL OR HAPPILY SUFFERING TO HEAVEN?

March 19, 2014

“It is better to get to heaven battered, bruised and bleeding than to go happily to hell.”

– Anonymous

Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Acts 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Romans 8:17-18 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Philippians 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

1 Peter 3:14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;

1 Peter 4:14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

2 Timothy 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

Almost Saved

February 15, 2014

It is said of the truly righteous, he shall “scarcely be saved;” and it is said of the seemingly righteous, he shall be almost saved: “Thou art not far from the kingdom of God.” The righteous shall be saved with a scarcely, that is, through much difficulty; he shall go to heaven through many sad fears of hell. The hypocrite shall be saved with an almost, that is, he shall go to hell through many fair hopes of heaven.

– Matthew Mead

1 Peter 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

Mark 12:34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

Acts 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Acts 26:28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

Heaven or hell

February 14, 2014

“It is shocking to reflect that a change in the weather has more effect on some men’s lives than the dread alternative of heaven or hell.”

– C. H. Spurgeon

Empty heaven

February 14, 2014

“If God were not willing to forgive sin heaven would be empty.”

Self-deceived

February 14, 2014

“If a man is on his way to hell but is self-deceived into thinking that he is on his way to heaven, it is an act of the greatest Christian charity to tell him plainly that he is deceived.”

– David Cloud

Holiness

February 14, 2014

“Holiness is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. If you’re not holy, you’ll never make it to Heaven [Heb. 12:14].”

– Leonard Ravenhill

Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Hebreos 12:14 Seguid la paz con todos, y la santidad, sin la cual nadie verá al Señor.

Don’t grumble

February 13, 2014

“Don’t grumble because you don’t get what you want; be grateful that you don’t get what you deserve.”

– Anonymous

If it was not for Jesus shedding of blood for our sins, none of us would have the opportunity to see heaven; as we have all sinned and deserve hell fire.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Matthew 13:42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

“Do you think that you deserve forgiveness? If you do, you are not a Christian.”

– D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones

Hell so real … Heaven so real … Christ so real …

February 13, 2014

“Would that God would make hell so real to us that we cannot rest; heaven so real that we must have men there, Christ so real that our supreme motive and aim shall be to make the Man of Sorrows the Man of Joy by the conversion to him of many.”

– Hudson Taylor

Nearer heaven

February 13, 2014

“When somebody said to a Christian minister, “I suppose you are on the wrong side of fifty?” “No,” he said, “thank God, I am on the right side of fifty, for I am sixty, and am therefore nearer heaven.” Old age should never be looked upon with dismay by us; it should be our joy.”

– C. H. Spurgeon
